CPB Criticizes Boucher’s Visit
The Communist Party of Bangladesh has expressed its serious concern over the recent visit of US assistant secretary of state for South and Central Asia, Mr. Richard Boucher. Expressing their concern the CPB President and General Secretary said in a press statement that carrying specific political agenda, Mr. Boucher’s visit to Bangladesh was not only unwanted but also a part of imperialist blueprint. Referring to his visit to Bangladesh CPB leaders said that it is a shameful interference in the internal affairs of the country’s politics and also a violation of country’s sovereignty and national dignity.
CPB leaders said that Mr. Boucher, other US officials and US Ambassador to Dhaka are continuously talking about the appearance of so called ‘ Third Force (meaning army intervention in some form or other)’ in country’s politics. They are continuously making their direct inference in country’s politics to carry out their agenda. They are taking the side of BNP-Jamat alliance by using the argument of the necessity to maintain peace but are not speaking even a word in favor of the concrete necessary measures to ensure free and fair election. CPB leaders said that not only in recent time,US imperialism had strongly supported massacre of Pakistani army in 1971 and all military autocrats. The people of the country know the US role in favor of Jamat, religious extremists and local and foreign exploiters. All are parts of a plan of imperialist exploitation and military strategic interest of USA in this region, which is a serious threat to the sovereignty and national security of Bangladesh.
The CPB leaders said that recent activities of Mr. Boucher and other US officials in Bangladesh clearly indicate that US imperialism is paving the way to ensure their imperial interest and permanent dominance in this region.
The leaders called upon the nation to resist imperialist conspiracy against Bangladesh and said that Bangladesh was created as a sovereign country through a liberation war and will never bow to imperialism. So the people will again ready to sacrifice their lives to combat imperialism if necessary. They also called upon Awami League, 14 Party alliance and all other democratic forces to be aware of imperialist conspiracy and not to fall into the deadly trap of US imperialism.
