Syed Abu Zafar Ahmed, Presidium Member visited India and had a detailed discussion today with the CPI delegation comprising of Com. A B Bardhan, General Secretary, Com. Nandagopal Bhattacharya, Central Secretariat member, Com. Manju Kr. Mazumder, Member, National Executive and Com. Pallab Sengupta, Secretary, International Department.
This is usual for the two parties to exchange frequent delegations. In line with that practice this meeting took place as decided much earlier.
The two sides exchanged reports and experiences of the ongoing mass movements as well as the struggle against the fundamentalist and communal forces and imperialist intrigues in the region which is of common concern to both countries.
The Chairman of CPB referred in particular to the present people’s movement in defence of democracy that is taking place in Bangladesh. He dealt on the unity of the Left-Democratic and Secular forces which the Party is doing everything to strengthen.
The CPI expressed its appreciation for their efforts. The Chairman of the CPB also had a meeting with Comrade Biman Bose, member, Polit Bureau of CPI-M which was a continuation of the meeting that he had earlier with Com. Prakash Karat, General Secretary, CPI (M).
